you may judge

whether it is not highly prejudicial to the health of ourselves

and community living contiguous thereto.

Furthermore as regards

the "Public Urinal" (attached to the Filth Receptacle)

the Chinese population rarely seem to make use of

the Shelter from public view that the walls can afford,

so that in addition to the Stench this disgusting institution is

equally objectionable to the sense of sight.

We believe you will find our allegations substantially correct.

To The Sanitary Committee,

Gentlemen,

We the undersigned Householders and Residents in

D'Aguilar Street and Queen's Road beg most respectfully to call

your attention to the very disagreeable effluvia arising from the sewers through the several openings

connected therewith; at and near the junction of the above-named streets; the Stench from

the same is at times almost insufferable,

and we humbly request that you will cause traps to be placed in the said openings,

or adopt such other measures as you may deem necessary.
